Alki Elementary

Library & Information Technology

Alki library is a place where we foster a love of learning, where every student is able to see themselves reflected in the diverse books on the shelves. It is a place where students are able to explore, research and question their world. Students come to the library every other week with their class. They are able to check books out for two weeks and may renew books as well.

Please ask your child’s teacher about his/her library schedule. It’s helpful to remind students to keep their library books in their backpacks if they choose to take their books home. That way they will have the books with them when it’s their library day.

Global Reading Challenge 2023

The Global Reading Challenge is a Battle of the Books program for 4th and 5th graders enrolled in Seattle Public Schools. The program encourages children to have fun and enjoy reading. Visit the Seattle Public Library to see this year’s Global Reading Challenge list.

4th and 5th students are busy reading this year’s GRC books. Alki’s in school challenge will take place sometime in February. Participants will be placed on teams before Winter Break. There is still time for your student to sign up. Have them ask Mrs. Iba for a GRC form.
