Experience the World of Words. Global Reading Challenge 2016.

"Mrs. Iba do you have any copies of Saving Kabul Corner? Hana's Suitcase? Tua and the Elephant?" "No, I'm sorry, all eight copies are checked out."

Can I just say this is a Librarian's dream! The ten titles of this year's Global Reading Challenge books are being devoured by eighty 4th and 5th graders. They are trying to be "experts" on at least two of the books so they can support their team during the in-school challenge which will take place on February 11th. On that day one of Alki's twelve groups will be pronounced the winning Alki team. That team will represent Alki at the semi-final round which is held at the downtown library in March. So, if your child is taking part in this year's Global Reading Challenge please continue to encourage them to read their books, ask them questions from the book and most important praise them for going above and beyond by participating.

    Happy Reading,
    Mrs. Iba
